Colin Cook - Radiology Trainer
Colin Cook initially trained as a Radiographer and taught Dental Radiography at Birmingham Dental School, qualifying as a Further Education Teacher, before studying Dentistry. Upon qualification he joined the Royal Air Force where he completed a 16 year commission. Colin’s interest in Dental Radiology continued and he obtained his MSc in Dental Radiology in 1995.
He was appointed the UK Tri-Service advisor in Dental Radiology and established widely acclaimed training programmes at levels ranging from initial Dental Nurse up to postgraduate Dental. In 1999 he was awarded the Lean Memorial Award for outstanding contributions to RAF Dentistry and was the Nexus communications ‘Dentist of the Year’ in 2000. In 2002 Colin was admitted to the General Dental Council Specialist List in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology and upon leaving the Armed Forces established SD Radiology the UK’s first dedicated Dental Imaging Facility, providing CT imaging and reports for referring dental implantologists.
Colin joined the Eastman Dental Institute as a visiting Lecturer and Specialist in Dental Radiology in 2004 with a specific remit to produce an e-based course that would meet the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000 recommendation for 5 yearly verifiable CPD update in Dental Radiography. He is a founding member of the European Association of Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology and in March 2005 was elected to the Council of the British Society of Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology.

John Elvidge - FAW Trainer / Assessor
Over the last fifteen years john has been responsible for the training and compliance of Health & Safety and Quality of many successful multi- site franchise businesses. He holds a Nebosh qualification and is a qualified QMS auditor. John has been involved with several Government projects within the field of Transport and logistics and has travelled extensively throughout the UK.
John is a qualified City and Guilds Trainer; he has worked with both children and adults in his role as a British Canoe Union Coach and as a Swift Water Rescue Technician he can often be seen on the river, providing safety cover at events.
John is a Community First Responder in his local area working alongside Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

Dr Caroline Pankhurst BSc PhD BDS MSC MRCPath (Specialist in Oral Microbiology) - Infection Control Trainer
Caroline is a dentist and was formerly a Clinical Senior Lecturer, Oral Microbiology, King’s College London Dental Institute. Now she is actively involved in postgraduate dental education and training. She is a freelance infection control consultant to Southwark, Lambeth and Lewisham PCTs and advised the Southern Health Board, Northern Ireland for many years and was a member of Decontamination in Primary Care committee at the Department of Health. She is the author of “Control of Infection Guidelines for General Dental Practice” now in its third edition, and is the co-author of a new book entitled “Basic Guide to Prevention and Infection Control in Dentistry”. Currently she is appointed to Editorial Boards of “Primary Dental Care” and BMC Oral Health. She was President of BDA Metropolitan Branch in 2006 and is a Trustee of the Fungal Research Trust.

Dr Martin Montgomery - Radiology Trainer
Martin qualified in 1982 from Newcastle. I spent 6 months as an associate on South Tyneside and then two years in Middlesbrough before moving to Penrith in 1985. He became a partner in my current practice in 1991 and sole principal in 2001. I have been a vocational trainer since 1995 and am currently working with trainee number 13.
He also is the chair of Cumbria LDC and was dental tutor for Cumbria from 2002-2006. I have been an assessor for the BDA Good Practice Scheme since 2003 and a Denplan practice advisor since 2007. In addition I lecture on various aspects of Health and Safety in the Dental Practice to various groups throughout the Northern Deanery.
